The NSA Muscle, an interactive inflatable structure built in 2003 that responded to touch and presence by changing its shape, is the latest subject explored in the Canadian Centre for Architecture's series on pioneering projects of digital architecture. Joining a roster of influential names including Peter Eisenman, Frank Gehry and Chuck Hoberman, this e-book recounts a conversation between Greg Lynn and the author of the project Kas Oosterhuis of ONL [Oosterhuis and Lénárd]. The 'breathing' structure was covered by a grid of 'muscles' that contracted and relaxed in response to external stimulus, combining commercial pneumatics and virtual control technology in new ways to prototype an new kind of interactive architecture.

To celebrate the publication of its fifth e-book on the pioneering projects of digital architecture, the Canadian Centre for Architecture is making this edition free of charge for 24 hours (usually available for $3.99). The series is edited by Greg Lynn and records conversations between Lynn and Frank Gehry, Shoei Yoh, Peter Eisenman, Chuck Hoberman, and now Kas Oosterhuis of ONL [Oosterhuis_Lénard]. The ebooks are heavily illustrated with photos, drawings, renderings, movies, and even interactive 3D models. They were designed for iBooks by Linked by Air and will be available on Android soon. These ebooks are part of a multiyear project that includes three exhibitions on 25 seminal projects: Archaeology of the Digital in 2013, Media and Machines in 2014, and a third exhibition in spring 2016.
